The Picus Blue Report 2026 analyzes over 338 million simulated attacks and finds prevention rebounded to 69% and logging improved to 58% while alerting remained flat at 14%; however, post-compromise and stealth defenses are alarming (37% post-compromise prevention, 10% stealth), IOC-based malware detection fell to 50%, data exfiltration prevention is near nil (7%), multiple recent CVEs show <25% prevention, and many ransomware families and threat groups now succeed widely — the report urges continuous adversarial exposure validation, behavior-based detection, and prioritized detection engineering.
